Setting up PPS Online on Android |
|
This guide takes you through setting up the remote desktop link to enable you to access PPS Online. This guide is based on the free to download WYSE app however please do bear in mind that this is the free version and is reflected in its functionality and features. There are a multitude of other RDP apps available via the Android Marketplace. (Wyse Pro works very well) a) You will need to have a Gmail account to access the Marketplace via your Android phone. Simply Search for 'wyse' or your preferred RDP program within the Marketplace and click on the application you have chosen, read through and accept the T&C and then click on the 'Install' button. b) Once the application has downloaded and installed (this should happen automatically) you will then find it appears in your program list as per below: ![]() c) Tap on the RDP app symbol that is installed (WYSE is shown here) ![]() d) Tap the + button in the top right to open the Connection Type screen, and then type RDP to open the Connection Settings screen. ![]() e) You can then use the following guidelines to create a new connection: 1. Tap Nickname and enter the nickname (for example, PPS Online). 2. Tap Host address and enter the host name. This will either be ppsonline1.rushcliff.com or ppsonline2.rushcliff.com depending on the details you have been provided with. 3. Tap Username and Password and enter the details required for the connection from what we have sent to you via e-mail. (it is not mandatory to enter the password to save the connection; you can leave this blank; if left blank, you will be prompted for the password during logon later). f) Tap the Save button to save the new connection to the list of available connections on the 'My Computers' screen. g) On the 'My Computers' screen, long-press the Nickname of the connection to open the Options screen. Tap 'Connect' to connect. ![]() |

works beautifully except at stage d when it tells you to use a VNC connection things wouldn’t work but would when I used an RDP connection.
