Adding Consultation Notes to an Appointment
There are two ways to start a consultation in association with an appointment in PPS Express:
1. Go to your Appointments Diary, click the appointment and select Start Consultation.
2. Search for and select the relevant client and navigate to the Client Log section via the Client option in the main menu. Find and click the relevant appointment in the client log, the screen will refresh to show more options and from here you can choose Start Consultation.
Adding a Consultation from the Client Log
Important: This method will not directly link your notes to the client appointment which can be important for reports, treatment episodes and some billing methods, particularly if you use Express alongside PPS.
Adding a Consultation from the Client Log allows you to associate clinical notes records to a client without the need for a corresponding appointment.
Select the relevant client and navigate to their Client Details screen . Choose Start Consultation.
Access the Consultation screen from the main menu and select your client, you'll then be taken directly to the consultation screen where you can add and save notes.
Writing and Modifying Consultation Notes
If required you can edit the Practitioner associated with the Consultation and also the date relevant to these notes.
If the Client has an open Treatment Episode then the name will be displayed - which you can edit. Ticking to Mark Treatment as Complete will close the Treatment and the next time you go to the Consultation screen for this Client a new Treatment Episode will be opened. You are also able to Mark the Client as Inactive here.
If this Consultation is associated with an Appointment then the option to Save & Complete will display - this will save the new Consultation notes and then go to the Complete Appointment screen in order to create charges and mark the Appointment as Complete.
Updating Existing Consultation Notes
To edit Consultation Notes, click Client from the main menu and then search for and select the relevant Client. In the client details screen select the Client Log tab.
Click the Consultation Heading you wish to edit from the Client Log and you will be presented with the main Consultation Screen and the opportunity to edit the previously entered notes.
