Important: This feature is currently only available on PPS Beta version 4.1.1705. Please contact support@rushcliff.com if you would like advanced access to this feature.
For added security on your PPS login, we recommend that you set up Two Factor Authentication (2FA) on your login.
2FA provides an extra level of security on your login meaning that if your device is stolen or lost or your password is accessed you still have a second layer of security prompting access to your sensitive PPS data.
With 2FA enabled on your PPS login, you will log into PPS with your normal username and password and then you will be prompted to enter a code that is emailed or sent via SMS to your nominated details.
Please Note: 2FA needs to be set up for each individual PPS user.
Section 1 - Setting up 2FA in PPS
These settings will need to be added by the PPS System Administrator.
Tip: Before setting up the users' Two-Factor Authentication make sure that each user's email settings are working if you choose to send the passcode via email or that the SMS account is set up and you have SMS credits if you choose to send the passcode via SMS.
Navigate to Tools > Set Up Practitioners and System Users. Select the user > Modify and then select Security.
Here you will be able to configure the Two Factor Authentication so that the selected user will receive a One-Time Passcode via email or SMS when logging into PPS.
Tick Send via Email or Send via SMS and then enter either the Email Address or the Mobile No of the user and save the changes.
Once the user has logged in you will then be able to see the date that the account was last authenticated.
You also have the option to add additional security to the login and you can select to lock the PPS system for that user after a certain amount of inactivity.
This will just ensure that if the user steps away from their computer the system will lock, without actually logging the user out of PPS, requiring them to enter their password again as follows:
Section 2 - Logging in
When the user next logs into PPS they will enter the Username and Password as normal and will then be prompted to enter their 2FA code that was emailed or sent via SMS.
Enter the passcode from your email:
Or enter the passcode from the SMS:
Make sure to check your email inbox or spam/junk folder if you cant see the email. If you cant see the email you can select 'Resend Code' to have the email/SMS sent again.
Important: The Passcode will only be valid while the Two-Factor Authentication box is open on your login screen, waiting for input. If you close the PPS login screen and attempt to log in again you will receive a new passcode via email/SMS.
Section 3 - Password Requirements
Minimum Password Requirements
If 2FA is enabled
If you have 2FA enabled, you can set a 'Standard' security level password which must be between 8 and 64 characters long and may contain letters, numbers, spaces and special characters.
If 2FA is not enabled
If you do not have 2FA enabled, you will be required to set a 'High' security level password which must be between 12 and 64 characters long and may contain letters, numbers, spaces and special characters.
If your current password does not meet these requirements, you will be prompted to update your password the next time you log in.
