Treatment Episodes in PPS are the framework in which you can store all details relating to a specific course of treatment for a particular client. This includes consultations, custom forms, documents, and billing details.
It's possible to have more than one Treatment Episode open for a client at any given time and you can assign each to different appointments so that each recorded visit is assigned to the relevant course of treatment. Treatment Episodes can last for as long as is necessary to cover what you deem one course of treatment or may remain open indefinitely.
Section 1 - Creating a New Treatment Episode
a. Open a Treatment Episode for a NEW Client
When you open the consultation screen for a new client you will be presented with the New Treatment screen. This screen will allow you to open a treatment episode for this client relating to a specific course of treatment.
When creating a brand new Treatment Episode you can check the Start Date and
the Practitioner - these will be linked to the appointment date and Practitioner if starting the consultation from the Diary - and you can enter a Treatment Name - this would be used to identify this current treatment and can be as specific or general as required - and you can then also enter a Consultation Limit if required - this will notify you when you book an appointment or open a new consultation linked to this Treatment what the limit is.
b. Open a Treatment Episode for an EXISTING Client
When opening the consultation screen for an existing client where a Treatment Episode has already been created you will be presented with the screen to load the existing Treatment Episode or start a new Treatment for a new complaint/issue.
Section 2 - Updating a Treatment Episode
If you have an existing Treatment Episode open for a client and need to update any of the details, you can update these details by navigating to the Consultation Options in the top right corner of the screen and select Update Treatment.
This can be used to update the Start Date, End Date, Practitioner associated, the Treatment Name or the Consultation limit as follows:
Section 3 - Updating a Treatment Episode
If you need to move a consultation from one Treatment Episode to another Treatment Episode this can be done by transferring the information via the Change Treatment button.
You will first need to open the consultation that you wish to move.
The easiest way to locate the correct consultation would be to open the client log and then select the consultation in question. This will open the consultation screen where you can then navigate to the Consultation Options in the top right corner of the screen and select Change Treatment:
You can then select the Treatment Episode that you wish to move your consultation to from the 'Treatment Lists' and select to Load Treatment:
This will move your consultation from one Treatment Episode to the selected one.
