Important: You do not need to be a member of Physio First to use the Data for Impact toolkit with PPS, you can read more about your options here: Data for Impact
What is Data for Impact?
It's a series of questions of which the data is collated and analysed by Uni of Brighton to establish key performance indicators - for example, how quickly patients recover from certain injuries with early physio intervention, how telehealth is improving the physiotherapy service etc.
PPS has a unique toolkit for Physio First users to allow you to record that data in PPS and export it to send to Physio First.
Section 1 - Your Practitioner Code
The unique practitioner code is supplied to you from Physio First when initially registering for the Data for Impact toolkit.
This code must be entered into the Practitioner profile before you can start collecting data. If you do not enter this code, the data you collect will not be uploaded to your account and will therefore not count towards your data for impact collection.
To enter the code, navigate to Tools > Setup Users & Practitioners > Modify User > Enter code in the “ID No.” field.
Section 2 - Entering the data
Continue using PPS as you usually would to add the appointment for the client and record your treatment details and notes but in order to produce the DFI report you will need to record a few details in specific areas of PPS.
First, you will need to make sure that you're filling out a Treatment Episode for the client, specifically to record the Treatment Start and End Dates, once the treatment is complete:
The second step is to fill in the custom form.
The custom form is entitled “Data for Impact” and MUST be used in conjunction with a consultation & treatment episode.
The same form must be used upon initial & discharge appointments for a patient.
Section 3 - Exporting the Data
You can export your data for impact collection data at any point by going to Reports > Reports & Mail Merge > Custom > Data for Impact report
This report will open up a window allowing you to enter the date range for the data you wish to export.
When completing the report, it will export within an Excel spreadsheet which you will then need to send through to the Data for Impact team who will be able to upload it to your account. If you modify any data within the spreadsheet before uploading, please note this data will not be changed within PPS retrospectively.
Tip: If you are a PPS Hosted user exporting this report it will open in Kingsoft on the server. In order to save the output to your local computer you can copy the contents of the spreadsheet and paste it into a spreadsheet on your local computer.
Please Note - We are continually working with the Data for Impact team to streamline the data collection and upload process. In the future, we aim to allow users to incorporate the DFI questions within their own custom forms (ie. if you already have a form used upon initial & discharge appointments, you won’t need to double-up with another form) and to allow the automated upload of data to the University of Brighton for analysis.
