Please note: This guide is only applicable to our new PPS Hosted infrastructure, coming into effect from April 2019. If you’re using your new connection details to test access to the new infrastructure or if you’ve already been migrated then the below will be applicable to you. Otherwise please consult this guide. The below guide details the process of setting up access to PPS Hosted on an iPad or iPhone for the first time. Once this initial set up is done you will be able to quickly access your Hosted system anywhere with an internet connection from the device.
Extra Information: The images for this guide were taken from an iPad. However, the app layout and set up procedure for an iPhone is essentially identical.
Section 1 - Installing the free Microsoft Remote Desktop app
In order to access your PPS Hosted system on our servers you will need to install the Microsoft Remote Desktop app. This is a free app which you can download from the app store on your device. You will need to ensure that your device is compatible with this app.
You should also check the Online System Requirements to ensure that you will be able to connect to hosted server.
Section 2 - Login Details
An email will have been sent to the email addresses registered to your PPS account which will have your PPS login details.
The information you'll need is your server address, username and password which will be displayed as in the example below.
Section 3 - Setting up your PPS Hosted Connection
a. Open the app once it has installed and choose the + icon in the corner to begin the set up. Choose to Desktop.
b. To begin with choose the PC Name field. Here you will enter the server address provided in your PPS Hosted Credentials email. This will have the format of client.ppshosted.com. Choose Done in the corner of the screen once you've entered the server address.
c. Back in the Desktop screen select Add User Account. Here you will enter the username and password you received in your Hosted Credentials email. These are case sensitive and should be entered without any spaces. Once done, press Save in the corner of the screen.
d. Now, choose Additional Options in the Desktop screen followed by Gateway and Add Remote Desktop Gateway. In the Server Name field enter connect.ppshosted.com and choose Done in the corner.
e. Back in the Desktop screen you should have everything set up so choose to Save the connection.
f. Your connection will now be saved and accessible within the app. Select the icon to connect to PPS.
